Ideally, I’d like to do what that man is doing someday. That, in my humble opinion, is very strong photography. It connects people to the sparcity of some truly amazing wildlife. Many of the animals shown in Rare: Portraits of America’s Endangered Species have rarely been seen by people before, and right as anyone tries to become fond of them reality looms over like a dark cloud and rains on the very existence of these creatures. We’ve been told there is power in our photography, as there is in print with words. But there really is nothing more prevailing than the initial punch given by the glimpse of a photo. Men carry artillery into the battlefield against an enemy combatant, we carry cameras into our daily lives against the mundane. We have very little constraints to truly depicting the human experience. This example is just one of so many ways to connecting people back to what is indeed real and happening in their world.

I’ll get off my soapbox now.
